Installation Guide
Tool-less installation. Takes about a minute.
Before You Install
Review the Best Practices Guide for pre-installation inspection and cleaning recommendations. Critical for warranty coverage and maximum product life.
Access the Upper Hood Supports
Raise the hood to access the upper hood supports on the firewall. These are the rubber-capped supports that bear the hood's weight when closed.
Clean All Contact Surfaces
Clean both the rubber on the upper hood supports and the hood receptacles (strike points) thoroughly. Remove all road grime, residue, and especially any old lubricants or silicone products. Surfaces must be completely dry before proceeding.
Install Hood Skinz
Stretch the Hood Skinz sleeve over the rubber on each upper hood support. The material is designed for a tight, secure fit. Ensure the sleeve is fully seated with no gaps.
Verify Fit & Test
Confirm each Hood Skinz is properly seated and snug. Lower the hood and verify normal operation. The squeak should be eliminated immediately upon proper installation.
Important Notes
- ⚠No lubricants. Petroleum products, silicone sprays, and oils will degrade the material and void the warranty.
- ⚠Inspect before installing. Worn or damaged upper hood supports should be replaced prior to installation. Hood Skinz warranty requires sound OEM or equivalent components.
- ⚠Dry fit only. Clean, dry surfaces are essential for proper fit and longevity.
- ⚠Warranty coverage requires proper installation. Failure to follow this guide and the Best Practices may void the 45-day squeak-free guarantee. See our full Installation & Best Practices disclaimer for details.
